Together for 1.5

Bringing EU Member States together to achieve the 1.5°C objective of the Paris Agreement – TogetherFor1.5

The main goal of the project TogetherFor1.5 is to harmonize European climate actions with the goal of the Paris Agreement of 1.5°C. The goal should be achieved through revisions of climate and energy policies – National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP) and the Fit For 55 package. It is also essential to increase public acceptance through inclusive and numerous climate activities and the presentation of their social and economic benefits. Also, project partners will monitor the implementation of the national plans in order to identify opportunities and gaps that can be included in the documents during the audit.

Main activities

  • Reaching an agreement on the Fit for 55 package and monitoring its implementation
  • Monitoring and active participation in the revision process of National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) to ensure that they will be harmonized with EU legislation
  • Harmonization of long-term climate goals and policies of the EU and member states with the 1.5°C goal from the Paris Agreement
  • Sustainability, replication and exploitation of project results for further analysis

Specific goals

  • Increase national and political awareness of the benefits of climate action, leading to the achievement of the objectives set by the EU Climate Law (at least -55% net reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. compared to 1990. levels);
  • Strengthen the implementation of the Fit for 55 package at the national level thanks to increased transparency, greater dialogue among stakeholders and increased public support for climate actions;
  • By revising the NECP’s at the national level, ensure that they have defined ambitious policies, measures and goals that go beyond the EU’s climate and energy goals, and that they clearly show how they will be financed thanks to better information and a more inclusive process;
  • Ensure more effective and ambitious implementation of NECPs at the national level through improved monitoring by civil society, and making sure that stakeholders and decision makers are well informed on the topic;
  • Achieving climate neutrality before 2050, and harmonizing long-term climate goals with the 1.5°C goal from the Paris Agreement;
  • Dissemination of project results through various communication channels.
